Paul Chatem is a painter whose main focus is telling a good story. This may be accomplished through a single painting, but for Paul it usually involves several paintings shown together revealing a complex story, multiple characters and unexpected twists.

Growing up in Southern California, fire is an ever present danger. “Fire Season” is a new series of paintings that Paul worked on as several fires burnt over 100,000 acres in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. The characters in “Fire Season” look like they belong in a strange storybook, and the land they inhabit looks lush and green, but fire changes both land and people.
