Sara Lanzillotta
Using sewing as an art form, Sara Lanzillotta’s soft sculptures have appeared in several galleries and stores
and shared the spotlight in an exhibit at the Seattle Art Museum. Using traditional forms of sewing and dollmaking,
and also influenced by her doll maker mother, Sara’s pieces use the cute and approachable forms of dolls and mixes
them with confusing and sometimes disturbing subjects. Combining the sweet and scary, Sara’s work often makes
us question traditional ideals in society and makes us laugh when faced with the alternative. Sara Lanzillotta escaped
from L.A. to start a new life. Since moving to Seattle she’s gained a new career in soft doll and monster
making while sharing a home and studio with her husband, chihuahua and mean, nasty cat.>
