Kristin Loffer Theiss
Kristin received her BA in Fine Arts at Central Washington University with an emphasis in drawing and painting - 1993. She later went on to receive her MFA in Fine Arts at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan - 1996 - focusing on mixed media and installation art.
Kristin ’s artwork comes from her interest in people and psychology. She is an observer who makes art out of whatever medium that is appropriate for the project (and her budget). Through her observations of people, she comes up with fictional characters, scenarios, and emotions that she works with and invents stories around. She is continuously inspired by texture, color, humor, curiosity…. and people that she meets. Philosophically, Kristin uses her art as a learning tool – her own personal viewfinder to the world -as well as an escape into her imagination. A good day in the studio is summed up quite simply; a discovery, outbursts of uncontrollable laughter, artistic surprises, moments of spastic dancing (some people call it modern dance), unlimited music to provoke the dancing, and at the end of the day - …smiling up at her husband with crossed eyes..
